Save Scout Dike Activity Centre
Petition: Save Scout Dike Activity Centre
When you submit this form, it will not automatically collect your details like name and email address unless you provide it yourself.
Required
We call on Barnsley Metropolitan Borough Council to pause demolition of Scout Dike pending the outcome of the Asset of Community Value appeal and the ongoing national consultation on ACV protections.
Scout Dike directly aligns with the National Youth Strategy, national outdoor learning priorities, and emerging Commonwealth level programmes focused on youth development and community resilience.
A credible community consortium is now emerging, with active engagement from DCMS, DHSC, DWP, and wider partners. There is clear and growing evidence that community use can be restored through a viable, collaborative alternative to demolition.
We therefore request that BMBC:
• Pause demolition until due process is complete
• Engage constructively with the community consortium
• Provide transparency on environmental, financial, and governance matters
• Support exploration of viable alternatives to demolition
Scout Dike is a strategic community asset. We ask BMBC to work with us to secure its future.
