Sign my petition: Road safety measures for Lidgett Lane and New Road

We, as residents of Pilley and Tankersley, are calling on Barnsley Council to take urgent action to improve road safety on New Road and Lidgett Lane.

Local people repeatedly describe these roads as unsafe. There is speeding traffic, narrow and overgrown footpaths, potholes, dangerous walking conditions, and a lack of pavements in places. New Road is used as a rat run, making it very dangerous for local people.

We want practical improvements, including lower speed limits, increased speed enforcement, better warning signs at accident hotspots, improved street lighting, safer and better maintained footpaths, and making Lidgett Lane one-way to reduce risk to pedestrians and drivers.

These measures would make it safer for children walking to school, older residents using footpaths, cyclists, and everyone travelling through our villages. They would reduce the risk of accidents, improve confidence in walking and cycling, and help make New Road and Lidgett Lane safer for all.
