Marie Tidball MP, the Member of Parliament for Penistone and Stocksbridge, recently visited Horizon Community College, on Dodworth Road.

Marie received a tour of the school from Headteacher, Claire Huddart. This included the school’s spaces for pupils with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND). Marie enjoyed talking to the students about their ideas for policies that would improve life for them.

She then had a Q&A session with the School Council, who asked questions about Marie’s role as an MP and the work she does for the local community. Marie was particularly pleased to see some familiar faces from the school’s trip to Westminster last academic year, where students from the school took part in a tour of Parliament and a workshop about politics.

“Thank you to the students and teachers at Horizon Community College for such a fantastic visit. I thoroughly enjoyed meeting students at the Hub and Base classrooms – I was so impressed by their knowledge and how keen they were to hear about my work as their MP. They gave me some brilliant ideas, including on electric bike regulation for kids.

“This also officially marks the halfway point in my visits to schools in the constituency since I was elected – Horizon being the 20th school I’ve been to out of the 40 we have in our area! Hopefully I’ll be seeing some more of the young people from Horizon on a trip down to Parliament soon.”
