Marie Tidball MP being interviewed by Penistone FM at the Penistone Agricultural ShowMarie Tidball MP has praised the organisers, volunteers, farmers, exhibitors and stallholders behind this year’s Penistone Agricultural Show after visiting the annual event on Saturday 12 September.
The Member of Parliament for Penistone and Stocksbridge, who has attended the Show since she was a child, spent time walking around the showground, meeting local people and visiting stalls and displays celebrating the area’s agricultural heritage.
Penistone Agricultural Show is one of the country’s largest one-day shows and brings together livestock, horticulture, handicrafts, local businesses and community organisations. The event is organised and staffed by volunteers from the local community.
Marie’s visit came just days after Back British Farming Day, when she highlighted the contribution made by farmers and growers across Penistone and Stocksbridge and her ongoing work with the local agricultural community.
Marie Tidball MP said:
“It was brilliant to be back at Penistone Agricultural Show. I’ve been coming here since I was little, and it never fails to impress me.
“The Show is a fantastic celebration of the agricultural heritage and traditions that make Penistone such a special place, while also showcasing the farmers, local businesses, craftspeople and community organisations doing brilliant work here today.
“A huge thank you to everyone who makes it possible, including Show President, Jeff Pears, and Show Secretary, Rebecca Barnett. An enormous amount of work goes on behind the scenes from the organisers and volunteers, as well as all the farmers, exhibitors and stallholders who put so much into making the day a success.
“Our rural communities are a really important part of the identity and economy of Penistone and Stocksbridge. I’m proud to champion them as our MP and to keep working with local farmers and rural businesses to make sure their voices are heard.”
